This Distance Learning Advanced Counselling Diploma Level 4 course comprises of twenty modules which are designed to give the student a good basic knowledge of the main theories that underly the most commonly practiced approaches to counselling and psychotherapy. It is a requirement for registration as a counsellor or psychotherapist that a candidate has obtained a certificate showing evidence of successful completion of a theoretical course providing a basic knowledge of the main theories in psychotherapy and counselling. Additionally the candidate will need to complete around 400-450 hours of supervised practical work, this is discussed in module 1 and in greater detail in module 19, together with helpful suggestions as to how such practical training may be obtained.

About this course
You do not need any prior learning knowledge or experience to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone who wishes to take part in a highly rewarding home study course, although you would be expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy.
You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.
