Course Summary:
If you are interested in entering the busy world of aviation, this one-year programme is for you. It is designed to enable you to develop your skills for a career in an exciting and fast-moving environment.
You will gain an overview of the aviation sector, the opportunities it presents, the potential for career progression and the skills needed to succeed. The course will also support your progress into employment.
You will go on visits to airports and related organisations which will support your understanding and develop your knowledge of the sector as a whole.
Entry requirements
The course is designed for learners who have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade A* - C, including English and Maths.
Alternatively you could have a Level 2 vocational qualification in Aviation and Maths or English GCSE at grade C or Level 2 Functional Maths or English.

Course Content: During the programme, you will develop your knowledge in Health and safety in the aviation industry Security in the aviation industry Aircraft dispatch Ramp handling Bird and wildlife control on airports and airfields Handling air passengers Aviation meteorology for ground staff Developing and improving the customer service process Team leadership Airfields operations Air cargo ground handling How will I be assessed? Assessment will be carried out using a variety of methods, including role play, presentations and activities, assignments and controlled assessments. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? All learners are required to wear the standard uniform, which you will be able to order during enrolment. The cost for the whole uniform is approximately £135.00, which includes a jacket, skirt for ladies and trousers for men, shirt and either a tie or scarf. You may be able to secure financial support towards the cost of the uniform. There will also be a nominal charge for trips and visits. What can I do after this course? You can go into specialist areas of employment within the aviation sector. Alternatively you can take your qualifications to the next level and undertake the Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism.
