Course Summary:
This is a creative and inspirational Floristry course designed to build your confidence and help you develop your design ideas.
Entry requirements
You need to be highly motivated and demonstrate a keen interest in your chosen subject.
You will need:
a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and/or Maths
an Intermediate Diploma in the chosen subject to a Merit or Distinction standard, with English and/or Maths
If you are a mature learner, we may be able to take into consideration your previous experience in your chosen subject. All applicants will be interviewed, will undertake an initial assessment in English and maths, and must present an example of current work.

Course programme

Course Content: There is one mandatory unit – the Design Process for Florists. The other two units will be chosen from a list which includes Hand-ties, Arrangements, Funeral Designs, Wedding Designs and Functions and Events. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed continually on practical and written work. You will also need to complete a portfolio of evidence. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? You are required to wear protective clothing and have suitable footwear (closed-toe flat shoes). You will also require: suitable tools such as scissors and secateurs flowers, foliage and sundries writing materials What can I do after this course? Further Study Derby College will offer three more Floristry units the following academic year. Careers The Level 3 Certificate in Floristry is a good foundation on which to build your skills and confidence. You will be in a strong position to work in a florist’s shop to advance your career.
