Advice and Guidance NVQ Certificate - Level 3

The NVQ in Advice and Guidance aims to develop knowledge and understanding of communication, interaction and support of clients leading to the implementation of a course of action. Like all NVQ's this qualification is competence based. This means that it is linked to the candidate’s job role and their ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role.

To achieve the NVQ candidates must complete three mandatory units and six optional units, see below;

Mandatory units

Unit AG1 Establish communication with clients for Advice and Guidance
Unit AG 2 Support clients to make use of the advice and guidance service
AG15 Review own contribution to the service

Optional units

AG 3 Develop interactions with advice and guidance clients
AG 4 Interact with clients using a range of media
AG 5 Assist advice and guidance clients to decide on a course of action
AG 6 Prepare clients through advice and guidance for implementation
AG 7 Assist clients to review their achievement

AG 11 Negotiate on behalf of advice and guidance clients
AG 12 Liaise with other services
AG 13 Enable advice and guidance clients to access referral opportunities
AG 21 Provide and maintain information materials for use in the service
AG 27 Facilitate learning in groups
H&S unit A Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
WRV unit W6 Ensure your own actions contribute to a positive and safe working environment
L&D unit L11 Enable learning through demonstrations and instruction

Optional units are chosen with the assessor, candidate and employer to best suit the work situation, job role and development needs.
