Spanning four years, our MEng degree will provide you with an advanced understanding of aerospace engineering and the aerospace industry. You will also have the opportunity to work on a group design and make project in your third year.
Links with giants such as Boeing, Rolls-Royce Aerospace and Airbus coupled with our teaching, research and new aerospace facilities, will bring the industry to life for our pioneering undergraduate students.
Years one and two
All students follow a common programme of study for the first two years, studying core material that provides a solid practical foundation in engineering analysis and aircraft technology such as propulsion and aerodynamics and engineering design and analysis.
Year two continues to develop engineering analysis tools but also develops more specialised topics, such as the mechanics of flight and aircraft electrical power systems.
Key to these first two years is a systems approach with hands-on design exercises and laboratory experiments. These enable students to not only gain a clear understanding of aerospace and engineering theory but also experience of their practical application.
Year three
Year three offers MEng students the opportunity to work together on group design and make projects as well as undertaking core modules in engineering management and public engagement and certification, safety and reliability.
There are also a number of optional modules across the AeroMechanics, AeroElectrical and general streams including Spacecraft, Avionic Systems and Advanced Aircraft Propulsion Systems. These give students the opportunity to specialise in certain aspects of aerospace.
Year four
Year four not only provides students with the opportunity to take their core knowledge of aerospace engineering to an advanced level with a varied choice of module options, but also provides the chance to produce an individual project and gain an insight into the aerospace industry with core modules in...
