The course A four-year undergraduate degree that produces high calibre professional engineers with aspirations to manage and apply current and developing technology in test, development and technical advisory roles for manufacturers such as McConnell, JCB and CNH. This course has a mechanical engineering core with a specialism in the design and development of agricultural machinery and systems. The course covers everything from the principles of the design of agricultural machines and farm buildings, soil/implement interaction and irrigation and drainage, through to advancing technologies in the fields of precision farming and renewable energy.  In addition to the core engineering/specialist modules and the opportunities offered by Agricultural Engineering this course has a greater focus on business and marketing modules. In your final year you can undertake your own individual engineering project or choose a marketing dissertation. You will cover not just theory and technical skills but the research and business techniques needed by professional engineers. Industry figures have helped us to develop a comprehensive curriculum combining core engineering subjects with the latest industrial techniques. Much of our teaching is project led, and is designed to develop the professional skills that you will use as a graduate engineer. Work placement All engineering students undertake a 12-month work placement. This gives students the opportunity to work in a professional company and put into practise the theory and applied skills they have developed. This experience is invaluable both for the final year of study and when applying for graduate careers, when most other engineering graduates will not have the same level of workplace experience. Work placement for this course is very similar to those for the Agricultural Engineering courses; however, you may choose to take on more elements of marketing and management during your employment, depending on...
