AIX Basics

Aims and Objectives
Login to an AIX system and set a user password. Manage AIX files and directories. Describe the purpose and features of the shell. Use the features of the Korn shell to enter system commands. Use shell metacharacters to control command input and output and also to combine commands using pipes and tees. Access the online manual pages to look-up command syntax and option lists. Use the vi editor to create and modify text files. Execute common AIX commands and manage processes. Maintain the security of files and directories by setting permissions. Customise the login and working environment. Use common AIX utilities Write simple shell scripts
