In addition to the University’s standard entry requirements, you should have at least 240 points, from at least two six-unit awards or one 12-unit award. Mature students are welcome.

Course programme

You will identify and analyse the ways in which the interdisciplinary study of the United States enables a critical perspective on a range of contemporary issues and themes in global societies and cultures. A range of optional modules are available to those who wish to expand their studies to the wider Americas, including Latin America and the Caribbean.

Course structure

Three levels, each of 120 credits. If you take a Joint you study each subject for 60 credits at each level.

American Studies graduates will enjoy the same wide range of employment opportunities as their fellow humanities graduates, enhanced by the interdisciplinary nature of the degree. Areas of employment after graduation may include public service, teaching, international business, cultural activities, a career in law or further postgraduate study.
