Key Audience:
senior managers and teachers in
primary schools, librarians with responsibility for or an interest in
primary information skills, Education Resource Centre staff,
advisory/quality improvement staff with responsibility for this area.

Course Summary:
During this course delegates will
be presented with an overview of skills, expectations, progressions
and practical examples of materials being used to promote information
literacy in primary schools. It will include discussions on
information literacy resources, the use of North Ayrshire Council's
Information Literacy Toolkit, links with A Curriculum for Excellence
and a demonstration of web-based activitie

About Alison McAllister and Melanie West
Alison
McAllister has worked as a Primary Education Resource Co-ordinator for
North Ayrshire Council since 2001. Prior to that she was Editorial
Librarian for the Daily Record and School Librarian at Belmont
Academy, Ayr.
Melanie West became a Primary Education Resource
Co-ordinator for North Ayrshire Council in 2002 after working at St
Cuthbert's High School, Johnstone, as School Librarian for the
previous four years. She has also been School Librarian in Paisley at
St Aelred's High School and St Andrew's Academy as well as Librarian
for Cunninghame District Council.
Course FeesAll courses run for a full day and fees include
lunch and refreshments.
