This Anatomy and Physiology ITEC Course is an NVQ Level 3 course and forms the basis of knowledge for all ITEC courses. It gives us the vital understanding of how our bodies work. It is also necessary for anyone who is thinking of taking any of ITEC’s practical courses, such as massage in the future.

Once you have this qualification in A & P you can use this towards your study for a massage course.

The price for this course is £630 (This includes the exam fee) - This courses is run over 8 days in total over 6 months giving you time to do your studying in-between. It is one to two weekends per month.

ITEC set a minimum number of 50 ‘guided learning hours’ to cover the A&P syllabus. We give you plenty of support for the individual students with their learning. Tutors are available at the end of each teaching day as a form of tutorial and also by email, as we are passionate about the courses we run and take pride in our student support, both whilst on the course and on an ongoing basis.

The course covers not only all the required body systems required by ITEC as an external examining board, but does so in a way to show how the system works, how it can go wrong and how we help with recovery. It covers disorders of body systems and how we as therapists can work safely and effectively.

The structure, function and disorders of systems covered are;

  • The skeleton - bones and joints Muscles, fascia and connective tissue
  • Respiration and health The heart, circulation and lymphatics
  • Cells and the skin Nerves, responses and the brain
  • Digestion and metabolism Liver, kidney and urinary function
  • Endocrine – hormones, homeostasis and their role in reproductive health


Learning will be supported by a comprehensive manual, which will include revision tips, details of other learning resources such as research websites, suggested books and DVD/videos to help you. It will contain all the information you will need relating to ITEC’s examination process and your tutor will guide you through what you need to know.
