Course Details
A Level Accounting is a business subject that leads on to a respected and prestigious profession. Techniques learnt on this course will assist you in any accountancy-related exams you might sit in the future. Accounts form an important part of our daily lives, whether managing our personal finances or managing a business. A study of this subject will give you the skills necessary to help manage the finances of a business and to understand published accounts. During this course you will learn how to prepare a variety of accounts, such as those of companies, manufacturers and sports clubs. You will also learn how to analyse accounting information, advise on the performance of the organisation and suggest improvements. You will gain an understanding of the importance of the costs that make up a product, the pricing of the product and the effect of them on the profitability of an organisation. You will learn to appreciate fully the importance of cash management to a business and the necessity of budgeting. You will learn how and why accounts are prepared and the fundamental principles which underlie them, as well as gaining an appreciation of the effects of accounting decisions on society.

Where the course lead
A Level Accounting provides the basis for progression to higher education and professional qualifications. Knowledge of Accounts is a good foundation for whatever career you wish to pursue. A successful completion of A-Level accounts would lead to an exemption from level 1 of Foundation of AAT (Association of Accounting Technians).

Ideally suited to students studying Mathematics, Economics, Law, Business Studies and Psychology.

Course Assessment
Accounts is an exam-based subject (100% exams), there is no course work. The exam board is OCR (Oxford Cambridge and RSA). There are two units or modules for AS (Advanced Subsidiary) and two for A2.
