Animal Care Dog Grooming Apprenticeship (Level 2)

What type of work will I do and what qualifications will I gain?

Although apprenticeships will vary depending on your entry level and your employer, you will gain a range of skills from the varying tasks you complete, these could include:

• Bathing dogs
• Drying dogs
• Preparing dogs for styling
• Basic clipping
• Promoting and maintaining animal health
• Handling and restraint
• Health and safety, bio security and good housekeeping
• Clipping nails
• Cleaning eyes and ears
• Selecting and preparing animal accommodation
• Carrying out reception duties

You will also gain the following qualifications:

• Competence and Knowledge Qualification - Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care (Dog Grooming) (City & Guilds)
• Employee Rights and Responsibilities
• If you haven't already achieved a grade C or above in English and maths, you will also undertake a level 1 functional skills qualification in English and/or maths.
