This is an ideal course for graduates of a Foundation degree or HND programme wishing to further their study to gain a full Honours Degree. This qualification provides graduates with the potential for employment in a range of animal conservation professions and aims to develop management skills and knowledge alongside research techniques and evaluative thinking. Each year there is the opportunity to explore conservation within organisation and environments by participating in various day trips and an overnight study tour. During the first part of the academic year an optional field trip to South Africa is offered. Please note: this course is due to start 2015/16 academic year.

Course programme

During the top-up year modules include: Wildlife Conservation and Biodiversity Advanced Ecological Survey Techniques Pollution and Conservation; Principles and Techniques Visitor Management and Education Current Affairs (option) Aquatic Management and Conservation (option) Dissertation. You will be required to attend a series of lectures, seminars and practical lessions; some modules require self-study with tutor support. Guest speakers from a variety of conservation-based organisations will deliver presentations to provide you with an industry perspective. Links with industry are also encouraged through dissertation topics.
