Persona Dolls in Action and Celebrating Diversity: Inclusion in Practice
The Persona Doll training programme is designed to provide 'hands-on' experience in working with the dolls, raise awareness and offer opportunities for reflection and discussion of anti-discriminatory issues as they arise. Training includes brief personal introductions, warm-up exercises, a short talk on the Dolls and the importance of selecting appropriate ones. Extracts from the videos, Persona Dolls in Action and Celebrating Diversity: Inclusion in Practice, are shown. One of the trainers then 'models' the introduction of a Persona Doll to a group of children and the participants in small groups choose Dolls and create personas for them. They later weave stories with an anti-discriminatory theme for their Dolls to tell to the large group. The training is particularly valuable for early years practitioners, students, advisory staff and lecturers. For local authorities and EYDCPs the fee is £600 plus VAT and for individual settings, schools, colleges, universities, organisations and charities it is £550 plus VAT. Not included are travel, accommodation (where necessary) and subsistence costs for two trainers. In the event of cancellation or rescheduling, 25% of the fee is payable.
