BSc (Hons) Applied Animal Behaviour and Training
Mode: full-time (September – June)


The Programme:
Science based units studied in the first year give students the basis upon which to build skills required to recognise and evaluate behaviour in both domestic and wild animals. Business practice and administration modules ensure the skills essential for post holders of senior positions within industry are gained. Assessment is based on assignments, seminars, practicals, presentations, case studies, workshops and examinations. There is also a dissertation in the final year.

Develop careers within the animal management industry. Personnel with the combination of technical and managerial skills are in demand within this fast growing and developing industry. Opportunities exist within the areas of animal rehabilitation, management, behaviour consultancy and counselling, education and animal training. Opportunities also exist to continue on to further research in this area.

Entry Requirements:
140 points at Advanced level (80 at A2) or equivalent OR National Diploma at MPP OR 2 National Awards at Merit OR NVQ Level 3 in a related subject with a satisfactory reference OR "Life Experience" will also be taken into account when considering applications from mature students OR Holders of Higher National Diploma in Animal Management will be considered for direct entry into the second year of the programme. Holders of a Foundation Degree in Animal Management will be considered for direct entry into the third year, after successful completion of a short briding programme. An admission assignment may be used in certain circumstances.
