This programme has been developed and designed to build upon Foundation Degree and other HE equivalent programmes.
It will give students in the workplace the opportunity to access their top up qualification - as it is offered one evening and one full day first semester and one evening and supervisory tutorials second semester to fit in with their work life commitments.
The programme builds on students' existing knowledge and skills to enable them to operate immediately at a professional level in IT sectors of commerce and industry.
It develops appropriate personal, intellectual and subject-specific skills to enable students to consider and evaluate a range of technical and broad-based issues from a strategic perspective.

The BSc (Hons) Applied Computing comprises 4 core modules and one optional module consisting of:
Dissertation Project - this is a double module - Students will be expected to and carry out an in depth critical analysis of a particular area of IT with a view to producing a thesis.
Research Skills - this module will equip you with all the skills necessary to undertake a major project. It will develop knowledge and understanding of the use of appropriate research methods. Also select and apply appropriate research methods for an independent study.
Internet Technologies - Continue the development of your Web Skills - There are so many different tools and technologies available on the internet today, and so many associated terms and concepts that you will be become adept at studying this module.
Mobile Application Development - the growing trend of developing Apps for mobile devices is one that requires software development skills which you will develop during this module. This module aims to extend the student's existing knowledge of software programming and software development. It will develop skills in mobile application development including networked data and data stores, mobile device networking, working in a mobile app development environment using mobile related code and APIs. It will also allow students to demonstrate software development methodologies and techniques.
Database Administration (Optional) - will provide you with a solid foundation in basic database administration. The overall focus is to make the student aware of the need for effective management of a database environment. Lecture topics are reinforced with structured hands-on practices that will prepare you for a database administrative role.
Project Management (Optional) - will use PRINCE2 which is a process based method for effective
This module will develop those sought after skills so much in demand in industry for Project Managers. Reviewing a number of methodologies such as Prince2, Agile and Scum which are used on a daily basis, the students will then be asked to work in Project Teams on a real project utilising one of the appropriate methodologies most suited to that project. This has been received positively from students who develop much needed transferable skills whilst working on live project.
