About this course
Due to the analytical and written requirements of the course, students should have at least a grade C in both Maths and English GCSEs. You do not need to have taken ICT at GCSE.

Applied ICT gives students the opportunity to learn, demonstrate and apply key IT skills required in working life today. Students will learn how to use the features of a wide range of software, accessing a large bank of practical activities to help develop their software skills. Students wishing to undertake computer programming or maintenance should consider the Computing or BTEC IT courses.

What will I study on this course?
This course gives students the opportunity to demonstrate the skills they have learnt by:
- producing a range of professional documents
- undertaking a research project
- investigating a case study
- designing and building a website
- producing a magazine
- planning and monitoring a project
How is this course assessed?
This course is a mixture of coursework (5 units) and exam (1 unit). Students will sit the external examination in May of the first year. All units have equal weighting in the final grade awarded at both AS and A2.
