Applied Science - BTEC Level 2 Diploma

The emphasis of the course is on science in nature and in society. Units include: Chemistry and our Earth; Energy and our Universe; Biology and our Environment; Health Applications; and Scientific Skills.

You must have four GCSEs at grade D or above, which must include GCSEs in Science, Maths and English. Alternatively, you can have a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Applied Science, with Maths and English Functional Skills at Level 1.

You will need a good reference from a school or employer, and will need to complete an interview and assessment prior to enrolment.

Assessment is continuous throughout the year, and based on assignments, projects and periodic tests with two units externally assessed. There is no final exam.

Students who successfully complete the intermediate level, and achieve a Merit or above, can go to the BTEC Extended Diploma in Science or a variety of BTEC Extended Diploma courses such as Medical, Health and Forensic Science.
