This course is designed primarily for young people aged 14-19 who may wish to explore a vocational route in Science. The course leads to an understanding of how science can be applied in a vocational/work setting. It does not give you all the skills you will need to do a job, but it does mean you have the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that are relevant to your chosen area of work.

About this course
At the end of the course you will be able to progress to BTEC Level 3 in Applied Science or into employment. Alternatively, you could progress onto related courses at Level 3 in Sport, Health, Engineering etc.
The underpinning knowledge, understanding and practical skills that make up this qualification reflect the needs of employers and higher and further education professionals. This gives you the opportunity to enter potential employment within a wide range of science sectors, such as industrial, medical, or forensic. You could progress from this course into careers such as forensic science, laboratory assistant, medical technician and many more.
4 GCSE's at grade D or above including English Language, Maths and Double Science. In addition to these, you will also need a satisfactory school reference, a successful interview and initial screening.

Course programme
This course contains mandatory and optional units. The units cover Chemistry, Biology and Physics. You will be taught in our new laboratories and will have the opportunity to gain work experience and go on educational visits. If you need to improve your English or Maths qualifications, this can take place alongside this course.
Course Assessment Method
All units are assessed through practical and/or assignment/project based work.
