What you need to know
How will I study?

You will study 6 different units including: Principals and Applications of Science, Scientific Investigation Skills, Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques, Laboratory Techniques and their Application, Physiology of Human Body Systems and Diseases and Infections. You will also take part in work related talks and visits from industry professionals and complete a ChiSpace profile which demonstrates the development of your transferable skills during your time on the course. English and Maths will be embedded within your core units and you will be expected to practice these skills regularly throughout the course. This qualification is recognised as meeting admission requirements for many HE courses, however learners should always check the entry requirements of degree programmes with specific HE providers. If you are aged 16-18 you will follow a study programme consisting of your main qualification, English and maths, enterprise and enrichment.
How will I be taught?

You will be taught in a variety of ways including practical and theory sessions, vocational role play and research tasks. Students will be expected to develop a good level of independent study skill to support their teaching outside the classroom.
How will I be assessed?

2 of the 6 units are externally assessed. Unit 1 is assessed through a 1.5 hour written exam. Unit 3 is assessed through an externally marked task which is also set by the exam board. These assessments are timetabled by the exam board. All remaining units are internally assessed.
