There are estimated to be 1.1 million sports coaches in the UK supporting 6 million people who rely on a coach each week. However, nearly half of these coaches are unqualified and only about 10% have a relevant higher education qualification. These subjects will develop students’ key underpinning knowledge of fundamental coaching principles, as well as providing students with the ability to develop their own coaching repertoire. Within the first year students will also undertake a module to develop their academic and research skills.
The second year modules will provide students with a greater insight into sports performance and specialist coaching within different sports.
