2. Course description Apprenticeships allow 16+ year olds to start work and earn a wage while learning new skills that lead to nationally recognised qualifications. Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers in the industry so they offer a structured programme that takes Apprentices through the skills needed to do a job well. Most of an Apprentices training takes place on the job but they will also have to complete off-the-job training within the College. The growth of hacking and phishing across the internet requires well trained and tested professionals.Level 2 details TBC.The Level 3 Diploma in Information Security is designed to provide the knowledge and skills for dealing with cyber security issues and how to work with others to combat them. The Level 3 Diploma in Information Security provides the skills and knowledge to become a professional in the field of Information Security (which includes Cyber Security) and is the only vocational qualification within the Advanced Apprenticeship in Information Security Framework. Potential job roles resulting from this qualification include Junior Network Security officer Assistant Secure System Developer and Junior Information Assurance Officer.Units Covered include - Principles of information and Governance AssuranceTesting the Security of Information SystemsPrinciples of Secure System DevelopmentPrinciples of ICT System and Data SecurityThe apprentice NMW applies to all 16 to 18 year old apprentices and to those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. If the apprentice is aged 19 and / or has completed the first year of their Apprenticeship the employer must pay the NMW appropriate for their age.
