Length of Study
Level 2 Apprenticeship 2 years. Once completed the level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship 1 year.
Entry Requirements
Cost
There are no cost for technicians under the age of 19. Technicians age 19+ will incur a fee that the employer is expected to pay.
The Programme
The programme consists of theory and practical related subjects and is taught on a block release basis. Generally there are nine one week blocks in each year. During the apprentice programme technicians will have to complete a technical certificate, key skills and an NVQ at the required level. At the end of the 3rd year technicians will be able to complete the Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) scheme. Assessment will be written, on line and observed practicals.
The Programme Content
There are no minimum grades for entry, however there is an expectation in industry due to complex technologies that prospective technicians will have good GSCE grades. A qualification in mathematics, English or ICT at grade D and above would be an advantage. To meet the requirements of an apprentice you will have to be employed in the motor vehicle service and repair industry. Assessment at interview of the students prior knowledge and experience will determine entry on to the course.

Progression / Careers
Level 4 Management or Technical Diplomas.
