ITEC Diploma in Aromatherapy

Pre-requisite:

ITEC Anatomy, physiology & pathology and Body Massage Diploma or equivalent

Aromatherapy has its roots in ancient healing practises which use the aromatic parts of plants, but is now one of the best researched of the complementary therapies. The course provides a detailed study of 42 essential oils and the techniques to apply them during a massage, and is especially appropriate to stress release.

Students will study:

  • The history of Aromatherapy
  • Carrier oils and blending
  • The effects of essential oils on the body, mind and emotions
  • Absorption routes
  • Extraction methods and chemistry
  • Home uses of essential oils

Practical sessions:

  • Include a full body massage
  • Experience of the 42 essential oils

Examination: Practical - Consultation and treatment (1 hour)

Case Studies:

  • 6 clients (6 treatments each + 9 home treatments)
  • Assignments - 15 additional treatments & research 15 essential oils
