What is this course about? An introduction to a broad range of Art and Design disciplines, skills, ideas and concepts. Students will study 2D and 3D visual language, drawing, painting, textiles, digital photography, printmaking, design development, theory and history.

Who is this course for? This course is for adult students who are interested in Art and Design and who need to develop a portfolio of work. This course is for students interested in progressing onto our level 3 BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art and Design) course and then onto Higher Education.

What do I need to get on the course? Some evidence of drawing skills, a strong motivation to develop skills and understanding to chose a direction of study within art and design to progress onto our level 3 pathways and then higher education.

What will I study? You will be studying 2D and 3D communications, drawing, painting, graphics, vocational contexts, digital photography and textiles. You will explore and develop ideas and produce outcomes for your portfolio which will support your progression route and a final major project.

What qualification will I get? BTEC First Diploma in Art and Design

What can I do after the course? Progress onto the BTEC Diploma in Foundation studies (Art and Design) level 3.

How do I get on the course? For September 2008 entry - complete a College application form, followed by interview.

How much does the course cost? Home students fee for September 2008 will be £1,180 per year. Concessionary students pay a £40 annual registration charge which covers any courses where concessions are available.
