Course programme
This course will give you experience across a range of Art and Design disciplines, such as computer graphics, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, mixed media, photography and visual recording.
Day-to-day, you will engage in practical workshops, lectures, debates, gallery visits and independent research. You will learn new skills and develop experience using a number of specialist materials, techniques and processes.
You will also develop your English and communication skills through contextual studies, ideas and concepts, and visual communication.
You will develop your creative potential while working on your own art application, exploration and realisation. When experimenting with specialist techniques and processes, you will improve your understanding of the visual language in art and design.
Each term you will work on a number of assignments, and will exhibit your practical work around the College through an end-of-year exhibition.
You need four GCSEs at grade C or above (including English and an Art at grade A or B). Alternatively, you need a BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Merit or Distinction, including Functional Skills in English Level 2.
Assessment is through coursework and your contribution to the final exhibition.
You can progress onto a Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at City and Islington College or a range of BA courses such as architecture, graphics, textiles and illustration.
