About this course

Most students will have done a two year A Level programme including an Art and Design A Level or will be able to demonstrate their commitment and ability with a portfolio of work. A small number may have only completed an AS Level programme before progressing to the Foundation course.

The Programme
The programme is designed for all students to have an opportunity to explore areas of art and design in order decide on future career opportunities within art and design. The course also provides a stepping stone between previous education and university
The Programme Content
There are three stages to the programme : The Exploratory Stage (Autumn term): This is a general stage which covers skills in observing and responding to visual information - The Pathway Stage (Spring Term): You will choose a specialist area to work in and develop more specialist skills by exploring ideas and outcomes and using a range of media and materials - and the Confirmatory Stage (Summer Term): A personal project written by you which allows you to demonstrate the skills acquired throughout the course whilst showing the ability to research and discuss your response to specialist contextual issues.
