Art and Design Level 1

Course Aims:
To create and awareness of process of design.

Explore available resources to develop basic craft skills

Explore and develop ideas creatively

Create, present and review final craft items.

Course Content:
This course will give learners the opportunity to explore many interesting creative techniques to enhance your own art work, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, using a workshop

Progression:
Learners can progress to an NCFE level 2 course in Art and Design. Alternatively, there are a wide range of both part-time and full-time courses on offer. Students are advised to discuss progression routes with a member of the guidance staff or your tutor.

Awarding Body:
NCFE

Exam:
Assessment is informal and ongoing. Students will produce a portfolio of work showing completion/evidence of three mandatory units which are assessed by the tutor and verified by an external NCFE moderator. As an integral part of the course all students will be expected to complete a workbook evidencing competence in the assessment criteria.

Qualification:
NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Creative Craft

Other Costs:
Learners will be expected to provide their own materials. Equipment and materials checklists will be provided at the first session.

Duration:
30 weeks for 2 hours per week.
