Who The Course is for
This course if for anyone who wishes to gain a vocational qualification in Art & Design. It is ideal if you are straight from school or have been out of education for a while and is particularly suitable if you don't have many qualifications but want to progress your career.
Successful students tend to have:
-creativity and plenty of new ideas
-self-motivation to complete work on time
-an understanding of form, colour and media
-an interest in developing their own recognisable style.
A certain level of manual dexterity will be required for Art and Design courses.
Course Content
Students will study 6 modules over the course of the year, these modules will introduce them to a number of specialist areas within art and design. These specialist areas may include:
-Animation
-Drawing and painting
-Graphics
-Multi-media
-Photography
-Print-making
-3D design
-Textiles and fashion
During the latter part of the course you will be able to specialise in one of your favourite subject areas.
Students will be able to undertake an additional GCSE level course in a subject such as Photography or Fine Art.
Entry RequirementsLearning & Assessment Methods
All units are assessed graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded (Pass, Merit or Distinction).

This course will enable you to progress to higher-level programmes such as the National Certificate or National Diploma in Art and Design (Edexcel).

Course Costs
If you are 16-18 years old you do not have to pay course tuition fees*.

If you need information on any financial support that may be available to you with fees or study costs on this course.
*exam and registration fees will be paid by the college subject to satisfactory attendance and course completion.
There is a studio fee of £75 per year levied with this course, payable within the first half term. This fee includes coach/train fare for three educational visits to galleries and relevant events, plus the use of a wide variety of specialist art consumables. A residential trip in the Spring term, typically for three days, to a European capital city is also planned at an additional cost of £150-£240.
