Course programme

This course will help you make meaningful connections between a range of artists, movements, ideas, socio-historical events and ethical issues. We will cover a broad art historical period, from late18th century Romanticism to today.

Topics covered

  • You will explore 20th century art, ideas and events that continue to shape critical tendencies in contemporary art.
  • You will be able to relate those ideas and trends to the work of artists by visiting London’s museum collections, temporary exhibitions and contemporary art shows.
  • Plus, we will explore the readings of some classic art critics such as Walter Benjamin, Charles Baudelaire, and Nicholas Bourriaud.

Entry requirements: None, apart from an interest in art movements and the ideas underpinning them.
