COURSE OUTLINE
A BTEC National Diploma is a two year full-time practical, Art & Design related course. The qualification is respected within the Art & Design industry and within Higher Education, and is equivalent to 3 A Levels. Students learn by completing assignments that are based on realistic Art & Design studio and workplace scenarios, challenges and briefs.

The course is also part of an external compact giving our students direct experience of widening participation schemes, working with the University of the Arts London, including Chelsea College of Art, Central Saint Martins and The London College of Fashion.

Assessment:
The course is made up of 18 units - 5 core units, 4 professional units and 9 specialist Art & Design units. The specialist units enable a student to choose and study particular subject areas in depth. The course units are taught through assignments covering graphic design, product and interior design, fashion & textiles, website design and Fine Art. In the 1st year students try out all the disciplines and specialise in the 2nd year.

Progression:
Upon completing the course students could gain an apprenticeship in a design company or go into Higher Education to study at Degree Level. For example; Interior Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Advertising, Fashion Design, Textiles, Multimedia and Game Design, or Fine Art. Alternatively, students have used the qualification to enter into other areas of training.
