Art & Design

An end ofterm Art and Design Show is a greatopportunity for students to promote their workand invite guests to come and see what theyhave produced.

What will I study?
· Unit 1 allows you to experiment with lots ofdifferent media and materials whilstdealing with themes given to you by yourtutors.
· Unit 2 concludes with an externally-set unit. This is the exam unit which takes six weeksto research and the examination lasts foreight hours.
· Unit 3 is also a coursework unit but you willnegotiate the theme with your tutor. As partof this unit you must complete a personalstudy. This is your written work based on influential artists.
· Unit 4 concludes with another externally-set exam question with a 12 hour examination.

How is the course assessed?
The AS and A2 qualification is marked internallyagainst criteria you will be made aware of atthe start of the course. A subject specialistfrom the examination board externallymoderates all of your work.

What enrichment will there be?
Activities can include:
· Trips to galleries and exhibitions.
· Drawing visits outside college.
· Participating in exhibiting work.
· Competition work.

What could I do next?
Higher education opportunities / further study could enable you to progress to a foundation course, leading to degree courses in fashion,textiles, fine art, architecture, product designand many more.
There is a wide range of career opportunitiesincluding cartoonist, costume designer,medical illustrator, exhibition designer, fine artistor graphic designer.
