Course programme

What you need to know
How will I study?

In year 1 you will be taught all the fundamental and traditional fine art practices such as painting, printmaking, drawing and design alongside specialist fields such as surface design, textiles, interior design, 3D design and photography. You will build on your existing skills through workshops where you can experiment and develop your own ideas. There will also be opportunities to gain experience as an artist or designer by working on live projects for real clients. These projects are often run as competitions with prizes and recognition. In year 2 you will have projects and themes which allow you the time and freedom to explore, develop and experiment with your own ideas and techniques. You will be able to follow an art or design pathway that meets your progression needs. Throughout your course you will have many opportunities for off-site visits and travel abroad. At the end of the year you will be able to display your work at the Summer Exhibition which is open to the public.
How will I be taught?

There are no exams, instead the course is delivered in the form of projects, six in each year and culminating in an End of Year Show. A range of techniques and processes are explored in a number of final creative solutions.
How will I be assessed?

Each assignment is assessed to a pass, merit or distinction grade.
