Description
The BTEC Introductory Diploma in Art, Design and Media prepares you for further study and employment within the art, design and media sector.

Course Length
1 year (full time)

What will I study?
A variety of topics will be covered to develop your creativity and craft skills, these include drawing, print making, 3D, graphic design, animation and multimedia. You will also learn functional skills which are English, Maths and ICT as required.



How will I learn?
In state-of-the-art facilities using industry standard Apple Mac and PC hardware, up to date graphics software and traditional media. You will visit galleries, museums, and learn through practical work and demonstrations. You will work both individually and as part of a group.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through course work and a final major project. There are no exams.

Where could it lead?
BTEC First Diploma in Art & Design.

Requirement
You should be at least 16 years old and have a keen interest in art and design. You do not need to have any formal qualifications, but you must have a standard of literacy and numeracy equivalent to GCSE (grades D to G). A GCSE in Art & Design or related level 1 qualification is desirable but not essential. You will also attend an interview; bring a portfolio of recent work and take an Initial Assessment Test.
