Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs at grade C (usually including GCSE Art)or above (preferably including English Language) or BTEC First Diploma in Art and Design and an interview with a portfolio of art and design work demonstrating your ability.

Course Content
In the first year students undertake exciting projects in a range of disciplines including Graphic Design, Digital Print, Fashion, Textiles, Printmaking, Drawing, Painting, Illustration and 3D Design. In the second year There are 18 units which provide an opportunity to improve general Art & Design skills and also to specialise.

In the first year students are expected to study Drawing, Printmaking, Painting, 3D Studies, Textiles, Photography, Digital Print, Contextual Studies.
In the second year students specialise and the 3 options are expected to be:

  • 2D Graphics/Illustration/Photography
  • 3D Studies
  • Textiles/Fashion.

How will I be assessed?
Course work based.
The final major art project is carried out in College under close supervision.
BTEC National Diploma is equivalent to 3 A Levels in Art

What can I do next?
Higher Education:- An Art & Design Degree (eg. in Fine Art, Graphics, Textiles, Fashion, Photography, Ceramics, Glass, Interior Design, Design Studies, Surface Pattern, Printmaking)

Additional costs
No cost for Tuition or Exam Fee although students are expected to pay for:-
A small kit of basic art materials
An A1 Portfolio and Plastic Sleeves (essential for presentation of work and for preparation for University interview)
