Where does it lead?

Many students continue their studies in Art through foundation courses and specialist degrees. Many others are engaged in degree courses outside the Art area; for example in History, Politics, Economics and English.

Other information

Annual visits are made to galleries and museums in London, as well as trips to Venice, Florence, Paris and Barcelona. Drawing trips with the local area happen regularly and students have access to the Art Enrichment programme of visits and talks from practising artists.

This is a broad fine art course where the experienced and supportive tutors are also practising artists who exhibit their work at national level. Our large, well lit and well equipped specialist studio allows you to work through a wide range of art processes, including drawing and painting in oils or acrylics on a range of scales. Students also work in three dimensions in a variety of construction materials. You will have access to digital media.

AS and A2 coursework projects are designed to allow you to explore ideas in real depth, learning new skills, experimenting with materials, developing creatively and investigating the work of other artists.

Examples of project titles include - Transformations , and -Journeys . Within these broad themes, students develop personal interests and pursue them with commitment and focus.

As the course moves forward, individual subjects of study are negotiated between student and tutor. Each year, the externally set assignment allows you to demonstrate your ability to draw, respond to the work of other artists, develop your ideas and produce your own work at a high level.
