Programme overview Birkbeck is different: classes are in the evening, so you can work, study, volunteer, intern or do your own thing during the day. We know the 'standard' university model isn't right for everyone, so our unique evening teaching gives people who care about their future the opportunity to study at one of the world's top research-intensive universities and move forward with their life goals at the same time. We've been helping people access higher education and get back into studying for nearly 200 years, so you'll find a famously friendly and supportive learning environment. Our new Foundation Year programmes provide the best possible preparation for degree-level study at Birkbeck. They are ideal if you do not meet the entry requirements for the undergraduate degree you would like to study, if you feel you are not quite ready for an undergraduate degree, or if you are returning to study and need extra help and support. Whatever your background and circumstances, Birkbeck's Foundation Year degrees will prepare you for success. This programme will build your confidence and give you the core knowledge and key skills you need to succeed at university. You will also get a taste of the subject area you are interested in and deepen your understanding of the career potential of your chosen subject. This BA Arts and Humanities with Foundation Year allows you to pursue your interests across the arts and humanities, choosing to study film and media, English and humanities, history of art, or a language and its associated culture, separately or in interdisciplinary combinations. You design your own programme of study, with expert guidance from our academic experts, choosing from an extensive range of option modules. Upon successful completion of the 1-year Foundation Year, you will automatically progress on to our 3-year, full-time evening study BA Arts and Humanities....
