Course programme

The main purpose of the Art & Design course is to develop your ability to appreciate the visual world and to respond in a personal and creative way.
During the first year we encourage you to:
  • Question all preconceived notions of art and personal ability
  • Trust your creative instincts
  • Express your ideas and feelings through the controlled use of a broad range of materials and techniques;
  • Investigate and relate to the evolutionary processes that are inherent in the development of all good artwork;
  • Articulate issues relating to the work of other artists from a variety of cultures, past and present.

During the second year you will have the freedom to devise your own lines of enquiry and explore the subject matter, materials, scale and artists of your choice. Through one-to-one dialogue we seek to enable you to reach your full potential as an artist. It is hard work but fun!
