Who is this course for?
Those who wish to follow an advanced study of history as a move towards further academic study or anyone interested in studying for pleasure the social, economic and political history of Wales and England between 1780 - 1886 and Nazi Germany between 1933 and 1945.
What will I learn?
The first half of the course covers the main changes and developments in politics and government in Wales and England, c1780 - 1832, together with a study of the main economic and social changes and how they impacted on the growth of popular protest in Wales and England between 1815 and 1848. You will also study the background to the appointment of Hitler as Chancellor of Germany in 1933 and the development of the Nazi regime between 1933 and 1945.The second year of the course will look further at Wales and England, specifically considering the Conservatives in the age of Peel and Disraeli (1834 - 1880) and Parliamentary Reform c1780 - 1886. The coursework element will be an investigation into Nazi Germany between 1933 - 1945.
Assessment
The AS level will require candidates to sit two 1.5 hour exams. The A2
Assessment takes the form of an extended piece of coursework (3000 words) and two further exams, one exam will be one hour forty minutes and the other will be fifty minutes.
On Completion Achievement / Progression
A levels are required by many employers today. Attainment of A levels demonstrates an ability to digest, analyse, evaluate and present information in a mature and capable fashion. AS level is needed to progress to A2 level.
