AS/A2 Information and Computer Technology

Who is this course for?
This course is for any person who wishes to further their knowledge in ICT. You will need the minimum entry requirement of 4 Grade Cs at GCSE including IT or equivalent.

What will I learn?
AS Modular ICT - this requires you to study 2 modules which are IT1 Information Systems and IT2 Presenting Information. IT1 consists of a test and the production of a portfolio, based on a spreadsheet package.A2 Modular ICT - this requires you to study 2 modules which are IT3 Use and Impact of ICT and IT4 Relational Databases.

Assessment
There are two examination sessions each year, in January and June. Certification will be available following each session. IT1 exam is 2 hrs 15 minutes long and IT3 is 2hrs 30 minutes long. IT2 and IT4 are both internally assessed modules. IT2 is a portfolio based on desktop publishing and multimedia tasks IT4 is expected to be a substantial piece of work and is based on a relational database.

On Completion Achievement / Progression
On successful completion of the AS level you can progress on to A2 level. On successful completion of A2 ICT you could use this qualification as part of the entry requirements for higher education. IT graduates are highly sought after and there are excellent opportunities available at home or abroad.
