Who is this course for?
The course is for those people who have an interest in mathematics as an entry qualification for further study.

What will I learn?
AS Level - this requires you to study three modules. You will study modules, which are selected from Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics.A2 Level - this requires you to study six modules. You will study modules which are selected from Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics.You will first need to discuss with your tutor your individual program of study. You will have to work to an agreed schedule from appropriate textbooks and/or units of work. You will be assessed as you progress through the work through assignments which you will return to your tutor using the Freepost envelopes provided. The assignments will be marked and sent back to you with feedback. Contact can be made through prearranged telephone time slots. The use of e-mail is also encouraged. The assignments are not part of the official

Assessment procedure. They are used as a method of assessing your progress through the course. As you progress decisions about when and what exams you enter for can be made.

Assessment
There are two examination sessions each year, in January and June. Certification will be available following each session. The examination for each module is of 1 hour and 30 minutes long. You must take two units at the end of the course.

On Completion Achievement / Progression
On completion of the AS you could progress to A2 mathematics. On completion of A2 mathematics you could use this qualification as part of the entry requirements for further study.
