Will I enjoy Mathematics?
Students who have enjoyed the challenge of GCSE Mathematics may be now ready to take on the subject at AS/A Level. Mathematics is a progressive subject in which students continually build upon the skills they have developed in previous lessons.
What is different about Statistics compared to Mathematics?
Statistics is forming a greater part of many subject areas that students study at A Level and beyond. Students who take Geography, Biology or Psychology at AS/A Level will find Statistics a useful choice.

The subject builds upon students' experiences of Statistics at GCSE. AS/A Level Statistics is an applied mathematics subject which is looked at from purely a practical standpoint and the course contains very little algebra. Students will take six Statistics units, three in each year.
Progression
All potential employers will recognise the problem solving skills that students with a Maths qualification will undoubtedly have. For many careers, particularly in the fields of science and engineering an A Level in Mathematics is essential. It is also considered very advantageous in careers such as medicine dentistry, finance and insurance.
