What will I study?

You will study and interpret texts from a performance perspective. You will use your performance and design skills to interpret and perform extracts from a published script applying your understanding of selected theatre practitioners.

How is this course assessed?

  • 60% OF THE COURSE IS ASSESSED THROUGH A WRITTEN EXAM At AS: A one hour 30 minutes paper comprising two questions. One on interpretation of a text, and the other requiring your response to live theatre seen during the year. At A2: A two hour paper answering questions on two selected texts.

  • 40% OF THE COURSE IS ASSESSED THROUGH PRACTICAL WORK At AS level this will take the form of working as part of a group towards a performance of a published script and the submission of a two thousand word document analysing the process and demonstrating your application of the ideas of selected practitioners. At A2 you will again work as part of a group on a piece of devised theatre and submit a three thousand word document analysing the process and demonstrating your understanding of your chosen theatrical style.
