The AS level includes 2 units, one of which is examined, the other coursework. You will be looking at a wide range of fiction and non-fiction texts, both written and spoken.
Unit 1 covers the study of how people speak in real life and how writers try to capture this in novels, plays and scripts.
In unit 2 you will study a modern novel, some short stories and some poetry in order to produce a folder of your own creative writing inspired by texts you study.
The two A2 units (exam and coursework) involve the study and analysis of drama, travel writing, political speeches, journalism and TV scripts. You will also produce a folder of your own fiction and non-fiction writing.
