To support the theory there will be practical lessons, demonstrations and field work.

About this course

As a minimum, you should have grade C in both GCSE Science and Additional Science (or in two separate sciences). You should also have at least a grade C in GCSE Maths and English and an interest in environmental issues.

AS/A Level Environmental Studies

  • The Physical Environment (AS)
A2 Modules
  • Energy Resources and Environmental Pollution (A2)
  • Biological Resources and Sustainability (A2)
There is no coursework in AS or A2. The understanding of scientific method will be examined in the written papers.
Study Visits / Fieldwork
There will be visits to the Elan Valley, local farms and rivers. A short residential field trip may also be arranged.
After the Course
For those who want to take the subject further, there is a wide range of higher education courses with an extensive environmental content. Growing concerns about the environment mean that there is a variety of career opportunities available.
