About this course
Students must have a minimum of 5 A-C individual GCSE subject passes one to be Maths or English Language , including a minimum of 2 grade Bs one of which must be French.

Who is the course for?
This course is for students with an interest in languages, French culture and society and for those pursuing a career where a second language would be either essential or desirable.
What is the course about?
On this course you will investigate topics that relate to the country of France; its society, contemporary issues and culture, as well as the structure and grammar of the French language.
Will I need anything else?
A dictionary and grammar book.
How long & often do I attend?
You will attend for three lessons a week. You must meet the college attendance targets in order to progress.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is by oral examination, and a written paper covering listening, reading and writing.
What opportunities will this lead to?
You could progress to a BA Hons degree in French, often in combination with Business, Law, Politics or English. Following this you could enter employment as a translator, interpreter, teacher or bilingual Personal Assistant. A foreign language is also an advantage in other jobs such as publishing, the media, the Civil and Diplomatic Service and the travel and tourism industry.
