2. Course description This is an exciting, practical course where you will have the opportunity to follow a varied programme of work looking at all aspects of contemporary graphic design, including advertising and packaging, typography, animation, illustration and computer graphics. You will experience real 'live' commissions and competitions from external clients, where accurate interpretation, creative ideas and keeping to deadlines will be an important factor. The course will give you an understanding of the importance of visual awareness to the quality of our lives, and an appreciation of the historical and contemporary links to other artists' and designers' work.

3. Entry requirements You must have a grade C or above at GCSE in English. If you have taken Art or Graphic Design or Design Technology you must have a grade C or above. If you have not taken any Art subjects at GCSE, you should have a portfolio or examples of work you have done. IT skills would be useful, but not essential, as full training is given during the course. You should have real enthusiasm for Art and Design, and a high level of commitment is essential. 4.
