This is a course for musicians who want to further develop their practical and theoretical skills through the use of music technology. During the course you will look at the development of music technology and study the different types of music including western, classical, popular music and jazz. About this course
A minimum of 5 A C GCSE subject passes, one to be maths or English Language, including a minimum of 2 grade Bs, one to be in Music. Applicants will also have to sit a skills competency assessment.

What is the course about?
This is a course for musicians who want to further develop their practical and theoretical skills through the use of music technology. During the course you will look at the development of music technology and study the different types of music including western, classical, popular music and jazz. You will also have the options of analysing, composing, listening, sequencing and recording using the latest in audio sequencing and recording packages.
Will I need anything else?
You may be required to purchase media storage such a CDRs and minidiscs.
How long & often do I attend?
Timetabled lessons (4 Hours 40 mins per week).You will also be required to undertake study in your own time to untilise the college's facilities and complete coursework.
How will I be assessed?
All work is externally assessed. Students will be assessed on the research and development of their work through external examination and practical exploration.
What opportunities will this lead to?
You could progress to a BA Hons degree in Music Technology or a combined degree with Music, Performing Arts subjects or Media Studies. Following this you could enter employment in live sound, broadcasting, recording studios, music management or journalism.
