About this course

A minimum of 5 A C GCSE subject passes,including a minimum of 2 grade Bs, one to be in Art and Design or a related subject and one in English Language.

Photography AS/A Level

Who is the course for?
This course is designed for students who have a keen interest in photography or art and enjoy to work creatively and imaginatively.

What is the course about?
The photography course is designed to help you develop visual communication through conceptual and practical skills with traditional and digital technologies. The course will give you the opportunity to develop intellectual, imaginative and creative thinking while gaining a knowledge of the processes and use of the camera in past and contemporary society.

Will I need anything else?
A digital camera and a general art and design kit.

How long & often do I attend?
You will attend three session per week (4.5hrs) for two years.

How will I be assessed?
You will be required to successfully complete two pieces of coursework and a timed examination.All students will be required to produce first hand coursework for each module, which will be kept in a portfolio. Assessment objectives will be explained and work will be reqularly marked and reviewed. Feedback will be given on a one to one basis.

What opportunities will this lead to?
You could progress onto a BTEC Foundation Studies in Art and Design; this will develop your portfolio and confidence. You may gain entry onto a BA Hons degree in Photography, Art and Design, Advertising, Architecture, Fashion and Textiles, Interior Design or Teaching. Following this you could enter employment in an art related area such as an art gallery or marketing.
