Course Outline:
Controlling time management is crucial to personal effectiveness and achieving results within professional life. Having an assertive approach has a considerable impact on the time we make available.
Participants will:
• Keep a record of their learning experiences so that learning points can be reflected upon and referred to after the programme.
• Identify a definition of time and the Personal Effectiveness Cycle. This will give a framework to establish the effective use of time.
• Understand the difference between response and discretionary time in order to identify and utilise available time.
• Understand the priority matrix which will help to identify objectively those tasks that are urgent and those that are not.
• Examine the difference between assertive, submissive and aggressive behaviour. This will allow participants to reflect on their current style and what would be appropriate during future situations.
•Understand the levels of assertiveness and how to use them effectively. • Have the opportunity to prepare a detailed action plan which sets SMART objectives, activities with timescales. Together with the Record of Learning and the Action Plan, a method of transferring learning back to professional life is available.
